Western Australians can now check in on the State’s short-term rental accommodation (STRA) sector and gain a clearer picture of industry activity through a new interactive reporting tool launched by Consumer Protection within the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS).
Available through the STRA Register webpage, the new public-facing report provides detailed, aggregated information on registered STRA premises across WA. Users can explore and filter data by region, local government area, accommodation type, hosting status, title type and whether a property is registered by the owner or tenant.
This first-of-its-kind public reporting tool published by LGIRS allows users to examine registration trends, understand how properties are being operated and compare STRA activity across different locations and accommodation types.
The new reporting tool is updated monthly and replaces the static registration table previously published alongside the existing STRA heat map, which continues to provide a visual representation of where registered short-stay accommodation properties are concentrated throughout Western Australia.
Commissioner for Consumer Protection Trish Blake said the enhanced reporting tool would help improve transparency and provide greater insight into the sector.
“Western Australians now have access to a clearer and more detailed picture of short‑stay accommodation activity across the State,” Ms Blake said.
“The new interactive reportmakes it easier for consumers, local governments, industry and the broader community to explore STRA registration data and understand how the sector is evolving.
“Users can view information by location, accommodation type, hosting arrangements and other key characteristics, providing a deeper understanding of how short-stay accommodation is operating across Western Australia.
“By updating the report every month, we are providing timely information that supports informed decision-making and strengthens transparency.”
