Last updated: 18 June 2026

The personal information you provide will be used by the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) to:

  • assist the Commissioner for Consumer Protection WA (Commissioner determinations) in making decisions about the release of residential tenancy security bonds (and pet bonds, where applicable); and
  • maintain bond dispute records, confirm your identity to provide information to you about your bond dispute, and meet legislative, audit, reporting and compliance requirements.

We may provide this information to:

  • relevant entities as authorised or required by law, such as the Bond Administrator, the Magistrates Court, and the Housing Authority;
  • internal staff who support service delivery and related functions, including communications and education; and
  • other entities, in a way that does not identify you, such as statistical reporting on bond disputes determined by the Commissioner.

Providing us with the requested information is required for Commissioner determinations to make decisions about the release of security bonds in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1987 and related legislation. If you choose not to provide the information, it may impact the outcome of your security bond release application.

Please see LGIRS Privacy Policy on our website for more information about how we handle your personal information, how you can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and who to contact if you have a privacy enquiry or complaint.
