Privacy collection notice for reporting a scam (WA ScamNet)

Consumer Protection is a division of the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS), and collects your personal information to:

  • Provide scam warnings and education to the public; and
  • Maintain a database of scams to monitor community trends. 

We may provide this information to:

  • Authorised internal staff to enable appropriate follow-up or resolution, or provide advice; and
  • Relevant government agencies or departments, or the appropriate authority or third party, as required, to respond to the matters raised in your report.

We will not disclose personal information about you to anybody else, unless you have given consent, or we are authorised or required to do so by law. 

Providing the requested information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, you are able to submit your report anonymously; however, we will be unable to contact you for further information or provide you with advice.
