The personal information you provide in this form will be used by the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) to:
- assess and administer your request for the suspension or cancellation of a Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) registration;
- make enquiries and investigate the events or circumstances described in your request;
- contact you to clarify the information provided or request further information or supporting documents;
- administer and support compliance with the Short-Term Rental Accommodation Act 2024 and other applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, including other associated legislation administered by LGIRS; and
- where required, make final decisions concerning the suspension or cancellation of a STRA registration. .
We may provide your personal information, including information contained in this form and any supporting documents, to:
- relevant internal teams;
- government agencies, local governments, planning authorities, public sector bodies or other regulatory and enforcement authorities;
- the relevant accommodation provider, an agent of the accommodation provider, or another person involved in the matter (where your consent is provided); and
- any other person or body where disclosure is authorised or required under the Short-Term Rental Accommodation Act 2024 or another written law.
Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to assess, investigate or respond to your request. This may include referring to your name, the information you have provided and any supporting documents in correspondence, enquiries or investigations concerning the matter.
We will not otherwise disclose personal information about you unless you have given consent, or we are authorised or required to do so by law.
Providing the requested information is voluntary. However, if you do not provide sufficient information, the Department may be unable to fully assess, investigate or respond to your request.
