Running an incorporated association

Consumer Protection has resources and publications available to help your association understand and meet its legal obligations.

The model rules

The model rules are a standard set of rules that have been developed for use by associations who do not wish to develop their own rules.

Changing your rules

Changes to the rules, names or objects of an incorporated association can only be made by passing a special resolution at a general meeting.

When the model rules apply

The rules of every incorporated association and club are required to include all matters listed in Schedule 1 of the Associations Incorporation Act 2015.
