Have your say on retirement village law reforms
Consumer Protection has released the Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement 4 (CRIS 4) outlining proposed retirement village law reforms. You are invited to provide your feedback before submissions close on Wednesday 21 July 2021.
CRIS 4 includes proposals for a process to manage significant changes to a village, improving protections for consumers in 'off the plan' sales and leases, and clarifying when the Retirement Villages Act applies to aged care residential facilities.
CRIS 4 also seeks feedback on issues relating to dispute resolution, strata title retirement villages, building defects, insurance, and the provision of home care services in retirement villages.
The public consultation phase commenced in August 2019. We aim to complete the public consultation in mid–2021, with recommendations to be made to the State Government by the end of 2021.
How to have your say
Consumer Protection greatly appreciates the efforts the community has already put into engaging with the previous proposals in CRIS' 1 to 3, and continues to welcome feedback on all papers.
We encourage you to read CRIS 4 and share your thoughts on reforms by making a submission. If it will help with your response, you can request a Word document with just the consultation questions, by emailing our Policy team.
