Bond money must be lodged with the Bond Administrator no later than 14 days after you have received the money from the tenant. This includes any bond assistance loan money that may have been paid to you from the Department of Communities (Housing division).

How you lodge on time and correctly

The easiest and quickest way for you to lodge a bond is to complete the interactive online lodgement form and click the validate button to create a PDF form to print and sign. You can then email a scanned copy of the form to the Bond Administrator.

Alternatively, you can post the form or lodge it in person at our Cannington office. If you are using regular mail, make sure you allow enough time for postage so that it arrives within the 14-day period.

If the tenant is paying the bond by instalments, do not wait until you receive the full amount. Each instalment must be lodged within 14 days of receiving it. Use the lodgement of security bond money form for the first instalment and then a variation of security bond form for subsequent instalments.

Be careful

Failing to lodge bond money within 14 days of receipt can result in penalties ranging from a $2,000 infringement notice, to a maximum penalty in the Magistrates Court of $20,000 for each instance of late lodgement.

For more information on residential tenancy bonds, contact the Bond Administrator on 1300 853 829 or via email to bondsadmin@demirs.wa.gov.au.
